Peshawar: a petition for inclusion of Kalasha religion in Census 2017 has been decided in favor of Kalasha community. On last hearing the honorable justice of Peshawar high court was issued notice to attorney General Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
High court chief justice Yahya Afridi and Akram Ullah thoroughly discussed the discrimination of statistics department, and endorsed the petition of Kalasha activist Wazir Zada, Luke Rehmat, Shah Hussain and Imtiaz Ahmad and decided the case in favor of the Kalasha community.
Talking to Ishpatanews Mr. Wazir Zada said that “we are very grateful to Justice Yahya Afridi and Akram Ullah for their timely and quick justice”
It is pertain to mentioned here that Kalasha people are struggling with identity issue since long and it is first time Kalasha religion has been included in Census.
“It is time for Kalasha community to appreciate the positive response of Peshawar high court and also Adv. Amir Sabir for their contributions and acknowledgment to recognize Kalasha community” says Luke Rehmat
Rehmat further explains that concern authorities should update their respective database to solve issues, since 2012 lots of work and evidences has been provided to federal concerns such as ministry of interior, national database and registration authority, NADRA and Immigration and Passport Office Islamabad, but still many sub databases are missing Kalasha. Now it is time to end this discrimination in view of recent petition that has been decided in favor of the community.
