Girls' Education in Kalasha Valleys: A Safe and Excellent Institution, but Is Politics Putting the Future of Education at Stake?

Girls’ education has always been a critical issue in the Kalasha valleys. For a long time, the local people have been demanding a separate educational system for girls so they can receive education in a better and safer environment, in accordance with Islamic principles. Responding to this demand, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa not only built a girls' high school but also established a higher secondary school for girls. This institution provides a safe and high-quality educational environment for the female students of the region, with all necessary facilities in place.

This school was constructed with modern educational needs in mind, and all essential arrangements have been made for the students. The school boasts a sufficient number of rooms and classrooms, ensuring that every student receives ample attention and care. Additionally, the school provides hostel facilities, which are especially beneficial for students coming from remote areas. The establishment of this institution presents a golden opportunity for the local girls to receive a quality education in their own region, and in a safe environment where they can focus on their academic development.

However, in recent days, some individuals have begun attempting to make this school a controversial issue, which is unfortunate. Furthermore, there have been announcements that girls are being enrolled in the boys' higher secondary school, which goes against the wishes of the local community and Islamic teachings. With a separate educational institution for girls already established, there is no valid reason to enroll girls in the boys' school. This not only contradicts public expectations but also risks creating more divisions and conflicts in the region.

If such controversies continue for political gain, it will harm the future of education in the area. Those who were previously advocating for separate education for girls and pressuring the government for action are now trying to make this issue controversial, which can only be seen as hypocrisy. This behavior jeopardizes the future of girls' education and risks creating further division and unrest in the community.

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has appointed highly qualified and well-trained teachers at this school, who are fully prepared to provide the best education to the students. The hostel facilities provided can also be fully utilized by students. It is now up to the people of the valley to take advantage of this opportunity and send their daughters to this safe and high-quality institution. If this school continues to be made controversial, it will be clear that some people are placing their political interests above the future of education and are not genuinely sincere in their intentions.

One legitimate and reasonable demand that could be made is that the government provide transport facilities for students from distant areas. This would make it easier for students who live far away to attend school, as daily travel can be challenging for them.

In conclusion, the establishment of the girls' higher secondary school is a major achievement for the Kalasha valleys. It is now up to the local community to make the most of this opportunity. If people recognize the importance of this institution and start sending their daughters here, it will not only lead to the progress of the valley but also open a new chapter in the region’s education and development.
